Hyatt
Windward Point

Opened in 2002, the
resort offers contemporary condominium units designed for relaxed
living across the street from the ocean and away from the bustle of
downtown. Families and groups of adults come here for sun, rest, and
the convenience of cooking at home.
Arrayed
along the resort's 400-yard front are gardens, expansive lawns,
sundecks, and a large, heated, freeform infinity pool. Adjacent to
the pool, a spa offers ocean-view soaking for 16. Nearby, an
open-air structure called Beatles Hut commemorates the occasion when
rock 'n roll's British foursome stayed in a cottage once occupying
the site. The hut contains pool and Ping-Pong tables, video games, a
food prep sink and counter, and dining tables. Spaced on a sand area
in front, three picnic tables, and three large barbecue grills
provide outdoor-dining opportunities. (At guests' request, the
resort's staff lights charcoal in a grill so it will be at cooking
temperature when guests wish.)
The
Bone Island Shuttle circulates around the 4-mile-long, 2-mile-wide
island, taking visitors
to such attractions as Smathers Beach (the largest in Key West), the
Southernmost Point U.S.A. monument, Mallory Square (site of the
famed Sunset Celebration), the Historic Seaport, and Duval Street's
shopping, dining, and nightlife. The shuttle runs all day, stopping
at the hotel every 30 minutes. Adults buy all-day, three-day, or
five-day passes. Children 12 and under ride free.
